About Mai

Mai built a successful 18-year career in estate planning and life insurance. During that time, her passion for real estate was inspired by her beloved client, Dorothy—an unassuming, frugal, and wise investor who created a sizable estate through real estate. Mai’s late boss, mentor, and eventual investment partner, Andrew D. Westhem, encouraged her to follow Dorothy’s footsteps.

Over the years, Mai built a real estate portfolio that included properties in California, Arizona, Hawaii, New Mexico, Texas, and Utah. She and her husband, Jesse, a general contractor, have purchased, renovated, and sold nearly two dozen properties. Mai also has experience with both long-term and short-term vacation rentals and has enjoyed hosting tenants from around the world.

Throughout her career, Mai has built trust with clients through a straightforward, honest approach to client relations. She is patient, attentive to each client’s needs, and committed to giving every transaction her full effort, knowing that even one missed detail can mean a lost opportunity.

Mai takes pride in staying personally involved throughout the process and especially enjoys cheering on her first-time homebuyers. Mai has lived in San Diego since 1975. She is proud of her humble beginnings, her large close-knit family, and the strong work ethics that have always been embedded in her life.

Mai enjoys watching her teen daughter pitch at softball games, traveling, exploring international cuisine, and loves time in the sun, rivers, and beaches.
